Announcing the New Cardiology IV Littmann Stethoscope

The new Cardiology IV stethoscope from Littmann sets a new standard for high performance auscultation. It’s now available to buy from Medisave.

Offering superior acoustic performance, this latest model is ideal for medical students, GPs, respiratory specialists, critical care nurses and cardiologists. It’s the product of years of research by the 3M Littmann team that’s been producing world class stethoscopes for nearly five decades.

The Littmann Cardiology IV boasts an entirely redesigned bell with a new, single-piece tuneable diaphragm. This offers high acoustic sensitivity, allowing the user to switch from listening for high frequency sounds to low frequency sounds by adjusting the pressure applied to the chestpiece. In addition to offering superior acoustics, the redesign makes for a smoother, crevice-free surface, making it easier to keep clean.

Combat Counterfeits with the Authorized Littmann Stethoscope Distributor Programme

Counterfeit stethoscopes may compromise clinical diagnosis warns global manufacturer 3M. An extended distributor registration programme across West Europe guarantees the validity of your Littmann stethoscope purchase.

Recently featured on the BBC’s Fake Britain programme (Series 7, Episode 10), the trade in fake stethoscopes is putting lives at risk and may impact on the diagnosis of potentially life-threatening conditions.

As a medical professional, you need your tools of the trade to perform to the highest standards – and that’s why you choose a Littmann brand stethoscope from 3M, synonymous with acoustic excellence. But do you take the same care about where you purchase your Littmann stethoscope from?

The Internet abounds with auction sites offering Littmann stethoscopes at bargain prices – often at 30 to 40 per cent lower than the recommended retail price.  The seller may also advertise high volumes of available stock.  But whilst everybody likes a bargain, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Some offerings may also get close to the retail price and further fool you into thinking you are getting a genuine product.

Fake stethoscopes are becoming more sophisticated and closer in appearance to the genuine article. To other than an expert eye, the stethoscope will likely look real, with a branded box, current colour of tubing, Littmann chestpiece logo, soft-sealing ear tips and product information leaflet. It may also carry a lot number, serial number and fake CE mark as well. But what about its performance?

Medical Students Benefit from New Interactive Littmann Stethoscope App

728x90-Littmann-bannerLike so many tools of the trade, your stethoscope is really easy to use but takes practice to master.

Auscultation (listening to internal sounds made by the body) has been medical practice for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years, but the science advanced rapidly with the invention of the stethoscope in the early nineteenth century.

Now Littmann, pioneers in stethoscope design and use for over 50 years, have launched a unique, interactive learning experience that will benefit a new generation of medical students.

For a limited period, this new experience, the 3M Littmann Learning App, is entirely free when you buy a new Littmann stethoscope. Continue reading Medical Students Benefit from New Interactive Littmann Stethoscope App

ACC 2013 San Francisco

9th – 11th March 2013 saw the Medisave USA team attend the ACC13 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center in conjunction with 3M Littmann. Focussing on the transformation of cardiovascular care – from discovery to delivery, thousands of delegates attended the session learning about the latest developments in cardiology while combining the sunny atmosphere of the west coast city famed for its Golden Gate Bridge and infamous penitentiary Alcatraz.

UK colleagues joined the USA team and together with representatives from 3M Littmann from as far as China, UK, and Australia liaised with thousands of delegates from across the globe to advise the advantages of buying a Littmann stethoscope. With the added benefit of personalisation on the spot, the stand was surrounded by cardiology specialists fascinated to view their new stethoscope being engraved with our latest engraving technology.

The usual buzz surrounded the electronic models – particularly the Littmann 3200 with its 12 track recording facility. And of course, the colour tubing and new finishes on Cardiology models caused inevitable curiosity. With smoke finishes, brass, and rainbow editions, queues bordered the stand eager to obtain their latest Littmann.

All in all a great success for the team, and 3M Littmann working in unison to promote the professionals choice in stethoscope. Check out the photos below!

Donation to Cycle Response Unit

Medisave are pleased to share that we have just donated a number of items to our local Cycle Response Unit!

The Cycle Response Unit can be sent to any 999 call. They can be faced with child births, cardiac arrests, road traffic accidents, road traffic collisions, assaults, overdoses and strokes (to mention just a few!).

Matt Care, Lead Paramedic based at Weymouth Ambulance Station, said, “The CRU is just one of the additional measures we have in place in preparation for the Olympic and Paralympics Sailing Events.

Matt came to collect the donated items; a Nonin 9590, Riester Ri-LED Diagnostic Set and Black Littmann 3200 Electronic Stethoscope. We also personalised the scope with ‘Weymouth CRU’ using our stethoscope laser engraving.

The donation of the equipment, totalling approximately £600, will be used operationally by the Cycle Response Unit this summer season and beyond.

“This top-of-the-range 3M Littmann electronic stethoscope will be of great use when assessing patients in noisy environments such as at a live music venue or on Weymouth Carnival day. The stethoscope electronically amplifies the sounds and even has the ability to record sounds for immediate playback”.

We are very pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile scheme. We have supported the Weymouth CRU on a number of occasions and being a local company we see the massive benefit the CRU will bring to Weymouth during the very busy Olympic/Summer period. We are a global organisation with branches in the US, Canada and New Zealand. However, Weymouth is our home town and we are especially proud of being able to support the local community with this donation.

Will you marry me?

A rising trend amongst our customers here in the UK, and also in the USA and our other global locations is the idea of using the engraving facility to propose when buying a stethoscope for your significant other.

When it comes to an unusual and unique way to ask your loved one in the medical profession to marry you, we are finding this is an special and increasingly popular method by which to pop the question. Around ten of our consumers from across the world have decided on this distinctive way to ask their partner to marry them.  And usually they let us know the outcome. Happily in all cases a “yes”. Whether this is because the beneficiary is enthralled by the loving gesture and cannot resist we can only speculate!

Besides some funny and curious names, and the intermittent “Happy Birthday” and “Good Luck” messages, the “Will You Marry Me?” in its variety of incarnations and languages has recently grown in popularity at times of importance such as anniversaries, birthdays and Valentine’s day we inevitably envisage a peak in popularity. Unsurprisingly, it is the Littmann Stethoscope which is the preferred choice and add our symbol engraving such as hearts or stars into the mix and you have one distinctive stethoscope! Some also choose a finish or colour which might signify something special or significant to their other half.

You can catch a picture of the latest proposal below!
